SUPER Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo was in action today as Southampton secured their return to the English Premier League.
The Saints defeated Leeds United 1-0 in the Championship play-offs final at Wembley Stadium to earn an immediate return to the English top flight.
Nigeria international Aribo, who regained his spot in the starting line-up in recent weeks, played all 90 minutes to help Russel Martins’ side achieve their aim as Adam Armstrong scored the only goal of the encounter in the 24th minute.
Aribo starred in central midfield and played a key role as Southampton held on to their lead in the face of pressure from Leeds United, who were relegated along with the Saints last year.
Southampton join Leicester City and Ipswich in gaining promotion to the Premier League from the Championship this season.
In all, Aribo made 38 appearances in the Championship and the play-offs, starting 12 of the last 13 matches and registering four goals and one assist.
