CRISTIANO Ronaldo last night broke the record for the most goals ever scored in a Saudi Pro League campaign.
The 39-year-old Portuguese superstar scored twice in his side Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad to take his tally for the season to 35 goals.
Afterwards, Ronaldo celebrated the feat on social media, writing on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”
The previous Saudi Pro League record was held by former Al Nassr forward and Moroccan international Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in the 2018/2019 campaign.
Ronaldo, who has played for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, joined Al Nassr in January 2023.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also the first player ever to be top scorer in four different leagues: LaLiga in Spain (thrice), Serie A in Italy, English Premier League and Saudi Pro League.
Despite Ronaldo’s goals record, however, Al Nassr finished second in the Saudi Pro League, 14 points behind champions Al Hilal.
