President Bola Tinubu, during a joint sitting marking the Silver Jubilee of Nigeria’s 4th Republic on Wednesday, May 29, announced plans to soon present the 2024 Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly (NASS).
Addressing the assembly, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the swift passage of the previous budget, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.
“I will soon bring the Year 2024 (Supplementary) Appropriation Bill. That is just for your information,” he declared.
In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio affirmed the legislature’s readiness to receive the Supplementary Appropriation Bill promptly.
Amidst the proceedings, Tinubu confirmed the adoption of “Nigeria, we hail thee” as the latest national anthem, highlighting its significance in celebrating the nation’s diversity and unity.
Urging continued collaboration, Tinubu called upon both chambers of the National Assembly to work closely with the administration in driving progress and development.
“We have no other choice; it is our nation,” he emphasized, stressing the importance of self-reliance in nation-building.
Tinubu’s announcement follows his assent to the N28.7 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill earlier in the year.
As Nigeria navigates the challenges and opportunities ahead, Tinubu’s call for unity and concerted efforts underscores the collective responsibility to build a prosperous and resilient nation for future generations.
