FG Invites Labour Unions For Fresh Talks To End Strike

Sixteen hours into the commencement of the nationwide strike by organised labour, the federal government has invited the unions for fresh talks to end the strike.

The strike, NewsNGR had reported, full compliance by workers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, financial institutions, government hospitals, and power sector among others.

In a bid to end the ongoing strike despite the failed attempt on Sunday night, the federal government through the National Salaries Wages and Income Commission said it had extended an invitation to the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

When contacted to know if the labour unions will honour the invitation, a source told NewsNGR that such will be decided at the end of a joint National Executive Council meeting by the unions today.

The source said, โ€œLabour has not shut its doors on the minimum wage discussion, moving forward we will weigh invitations, so we donโ€™t waste our time.

โ€œOur demand is clear, give Nigerians a substantial minimum wageโ€.
