THE National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has stated that they will not allow Peter Obi to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the crisis in the party.

Arabambi emphasized the party’s pursuit of a political solution to resolve its crisis so that their 2023 presidential candidate would not align with his PDP counterpart Atiku Abubakar before the 2027 presidential election.

Regarding the recent legal dispute within the party, Arabambi referenced a restraining order issued by Justice Hamza Muazuan of the FCT High Court against restrained Abure, Farouk Ibrahim, Clement Ojukwu, and Oluchi Opara preventing them from parading to be national officers of the party.

Justice Hamman Barka, leading a three-member panel of justices, however held that Abure’s appeal had merit and was accordingly allowed.

Recall that in March 2024, the Court of Appeal in Abuja overturned the lower court’s decision, which barred Julius Abure and two others from parading themselves as Labour Party national officers.

He held that the FCT high court was wrong to have assumed jurisdiction on the matter.

The court also awarded the sum of N1 million in favour of Abure and other appellants in the matter.

Arabambi asserted that following the Court of Appeal’s decision, any actions taken by the individuals restrained by the FCT High Court between March 2023 and March 2024 are considered null and void.
