The former Vice President of Nigeria and the presidential candidate of the Peopleโ€™s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Atiku Abubakar, has sympathised with President Bola Tinubu, after slipping on the climbing his motorcade to observe the Democracy Day parade on Wednesday.

Mr Atiku, who lost to Mr Tinubu in the presidential poll last year, wrote the message on X, formerly Twitter, and attached the video of the fall to the post.

โ€œI sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu, over the unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him โ€“ AA,โ€ he wrote.

The President had slipped and fell while approaching the vehicle shortly after he arrived at the Eagles Square, Abuja venue of the June 12 commemoration.

Business Post gathered that the President lost his footing momentarily as he was about to embark on the parade vehicle.

However, Mr Tinubu, who was immediately assisted by his aides after the incident, has since resumed duties at the ongoing ceremony.

The event was part of a series of events to mark the countryโ€™s Democracy Day celebration at Eagles Square, Abuja.

In reaction, Mr Dada Olusegun, a Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, said, โ€œMr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.โ€
