The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has cautioned federal and state-owned tertiary institutions against providing inaccurate or incomplete data for the student loan scheme. The agency stressed the importance of submitting comprehensive and precise information.
NELFUND announced that it will publish a list of institutions that have submitted their complete student data on June 24. This data is crucial for uploading to the agency’s Student Verification System (SVS). The publication aims to promote transparency, ensure proper access, and encourage participation from both undergraduate applicants and tertiary institutions.
In a statement by Nasir Ayitogo, Head of Media and Public Relations, NELFUND acknowledged the commendable efforts of many federal institutions that have already completed the exercise. The process of uploading data for state-owned institutions is currently ongoing.
“For applicants to access the fund, their details must be included in the institution’s submitted data set to the NELFUND SVS, enabling seamless automatic verification. Incomplete or inaccurate data from institutions will invalidate the application process and disadvantage applicants. Therefore, it is critical that the information provided is both complete and accurate.
“The correlation of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) numbers, matriculation numbers, admission numbers, full names, and dates of birth will support the evaluation process. Applicants are urged to enter their data accurately into the portal and ensure their email addresses are correct.
“NELFUND is pleased with the cooperation received from tertiary institutions at both the state and federal levels across the nation.”
