THE Kano State Police Command has added more armed personnel to the two palaces where the contending emirs are located in the metropolitan local government areas of Kano.

It was reported that the hunters who were previously guarding the palaces left as more police officers arrived to take over security duties.

The outgoing Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel confirmed the increased deployment in an interview with the journalist, citing the importance of having equipped personnel in those areas.

Gumel, also an Assistant Inspector General of Police, stated that the reinforcement was necessary to ensure security and promote peaceful coexistence in the state.

He specified that armed personnel were stationed at both the Kofar Kudu Palace, where Emir Malam Mohammad Sanusi resides, and the Nasarawa Mimi Palace, the residence of Emir Aminu Bayero.

Gumel urged the public to assist the police by providing any information that could help maintain peace and stability.

He reassured residents of the police commandโ€™s commitment to ensuring their safety and enabling them to carry out their activities without fear.

The deployment happened amidst heightened tensions in Kano over the conflict regarding the emirship.
