The speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Wednesday, walked out the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon Natasha Osawaru, from plenary for improper dressing and wearing of dark shade.
Agbebaku said the decision to order the legislator out of the chamber was not his own making, but in accordance with the House rules.
According to him, “Improper dressing and wearing of dark shade is not allowed in this House. It is not me that said it, but the house rules. So, please,let us always comply wit these our rules.”
The development followed a point of order raised by the Member representing Ikpoba-Okha constituency, Hon. Nicholas Asonsere who drew members attention to Natasha’s mode of dressing.
Asonsere said the Deputy majority leader’s dressing was against the rules of the House, adding that “we will not continue to accept or allow anybody to bring it to disrepute.”
According to the legislator, “We have tolerated enough of the attitude and behaviour of some honourable members so to speak. And if we did not correct this now, it would become a precedent for others to emulate.
“We have our own Bible which is often refer to as the rules of the Edo State House of Assembly. Upon this, we are being guided.
“Any member that violate or contravene the rules is punishable by the law”, he added.
