THE Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has cautioned airlines against engaging in deceptive scheduling of departure times.
The acting Director General, Chris Najomo, emphasized during a press briefing yesterday at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja, that NCAA is adopting a zero-tolerance stance towards regulatory violations.
Speaking through the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the acting DG issued a warning to airlines, urging them to refrain from such violations or risk facing severe regulatory measures.
Najomo underscored the prioritization of enhancing the business environment within the NCAA.
He emphasized streamlining licensing processes for operators, making it quicker and less burdensome as compared to the past.
The acting DG also mentioned that if the NCAA is making doing business easier for operators, the operators must satisfy the passengers too with superior services.
He said, “It has come to our notice that some airlines are being reported for advertising deceitful departure times. The NCAA regulation says no airline shall display deceitful passenger departure time at its counter, advert material, or on its website.
“We want to make it very clear that the DGCA has directed monitoring and offenders will face serious regulatory actions.”
Furthermore, the Authority emphasized that it upholds principles of safety, discipline, and economic oversight.
This commitment was demonstrated through the recent suspension of ten PNCF holders who failed to adhere to the recertification advisory issued in April 2024.
While supporting airlines in their economic viability due to their significance to the economy, the NCAA stressed the need for fair treatment of passengers.
Najomo stated further that the Authority will continue to improve to ensure ease of doing business at the NCAA.
