Kwara United is undergoing a major transformation as the team gears up for the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

In a bold move, the club has released 22 players from last season, as confirmed by General Manager Bashir Badawiy at the start of pre-season training in Ilorin on Monday.

This strategic decision is part of Kwara United’s plan to revitalize their squad. To this end, the club has welcomed 23 new players to strengthen their ranks.

Badawiy urged the new recruits to maintain discipline and adhere to the club’s philosophy to ensure a successful season.

Among the notable new signings are Abayomi Samuel from Shooting Stars, Jimi Iteji from Plateau United, former U17, U20, and U23 goalkeepers Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar, and Ifeanyi Ogba from Rangers International.

“We have released 22 players to join clubs within and outside the country as their services will not be required. We wish them all the best but our focus is on the task ahead,” Badawiy stated.

Reflecting on the club’s ambitions, Badawiy added, “Our expectation for the 2024–25 NPFL season is to finish among the top three. We don’t want to struggle again; in the last two seasons, we were among the top four and even qualified for continental competitions.”

With a renewed squad and clear objectives, Kwara United is determined to make a significant impact in the forthcoming NPFL season, aiming for a top-three finish and continued success.
