In a shocking development, one of the domestic workers of Aribemchukwu, the slain daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has confessed to being involved in her murder.
The Punch quoted a police source to have revealed this on Thursday.
The deceased, affectionately known as Chuchu, was found dead at her Parkview Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos State. Although a family source indicated she was killed on Tuesday night, her body was discovered outside her residence’s gate on Wednesday morning.
Three of her domestic employees, including a house help, a security guard, and a driver, were arrested in connection with the murder.
A police source, who requested anonymity as he was not authorized to speak on the matter, confirmed that the house help confessed during interrogation.
“The deceased was killed in her room, and her body was dragged to the front gate to make it appear she was killed there. They attempted to clean up the blood stains but missed some spots because it was done at night,” the source disclosed.
“The house help did not deny what happened. She said, ‘We do am, na we do am,’ during interrogation, and her confession matched the evidence on the ground.”
The suspects reportedly packed all of the deceased’s valuables after committing the crime.
The police source also noted that the three domestic workers were employed just a week before the incident.
Until her untimely death, Aribemchukwu was a doctor and had recently married.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
“Investigations are still ongoing on the incident. We will provide updates as soon as there are more developments,” Hundeyin said.
