The chief of defence staff (CDS), Christopher has said the #EndBadGovernance protesters flying foreign flags in the country is a treasonable offence.
The CDS disclosed this shortly after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
Protesters across the Northern region have been seen flying a foreign flag, widely misconstrued to be a Russian flag.
Although the Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested the stylist designing the flag, the Russian embassy in Nigeria says that its government is not involved in its national flags flown during the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest.
In a statement on Monday, the embassy said neither the government nor Russian officials were connected to the trend.
