The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday vowed to clampdown on hoodlums planning to reconvene the suspended ‘End Bad Governace’ protest in the state.
NewsNGR recalls that the organizers suspended the protests on Tuesday, citing the upcoming Osun Osogbo Festival and security reasons.
The Osun Police Public Relation Officer, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement late Wednesday stated that the “the Command wishes to inform the general public that it is aware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements, who are attempting to disrupt the peace in the state.
“These individuals are unhappy with the peaceful protest (END BAD GOVERNANCE) carried out by the Coalition of Civil Organizations, Osun State Chapter, which was suspended on 6th August 2024, in honour of the Osun Osogbo Festival.
“The Command assures the public that it will not tolerate any attempt to jeopardize the peace and security of the state. The Command will not fold its arms to allow mischief makers to truncate the peaceful atmosphere of the State.”
She allayed the fear of the public and advised them to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and report any unlawful gathering in any part of the State.
