The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded a 0.33 per cent loss on Friday, August 9, triggering a return of the bourse below the N2 trillion mark.
Data showed that the value of Nigeria’s OTC securities exchange shrank by N6.6 billion to wrap the final session of the week at N1.995 trillion, in contrast to the N2.002 trillion it ended a day earlier.
Also, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) dropped 4.82 points during the trading session to settle at 1,456.53 points compared with the 1,461.35 points it finished in the previous session.
Investors exchanged stocks totalling 2.9 million units, which is 11.9 per cent lower than the 3.3 million units traded in the preceding session.
However, the value of the securities bought and sold by the market participants increased by 27.9 per cent to N1.03 billion from the N802.5 million recorded in the previous trading day.
In the same vein, the number of deals carried out on Friday went up by 33.3 per cent to 64 deals from the 48 deals executed in the preceding trading session.
The market posted two price gained and two price losers led by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which lost N5.00 to sell at N45.00 per unit versus N50.00 per unit of the prevous day, and Aradel Holdings Plc slipped by N3.8 to N4,603.62 per share from N4,607.45 per share.
Conversely, Afriland Properties Plc appreciated by N1.45 to end the session at N15.95 per unit versus Thursday’s N14.50 per unit, and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc soared by 40 Kobo to end at N18.50 per share versus N18.10 per share.
Aradel Holdings Plc was the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) after transacting 9.2 million units valued at N29.8 billion, followed by Afriland Properties Plc with 230.5 million units sold for N4.1 billion, and CSCS Plc with 105.5 million units sold for N2.5 billion.
Capital Hotels Plc closed the day as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 259.6 million worth N1.3 billion, trailed by Afriland Properties Plc with 230.5 million units sold for N4.1 billion, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with 218.8 million units valued at N46.1 million.
