Popular Nigerian singer Ololade Ahmed, fondly called Asake, has made history as the first African artist to top Spotify’s global debut chart.
He achieved this milestone with his third studio album, “Lungu Boy”, which recently reached number one on the chart.
The 15-track album, featuring collaborations with Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, set a new record for the highest first-day streams for an African album on Spotify, amassing 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart on its debut day.
A highlight from the album, the track MMS featuring Wizkid, also set a record by becoming the most-streamed song on its first day on Spotify Nigeria, with 870,000 streams.
