Paulo Okoye claims Rema overpriced himself

Music executive Paulo Okoye has expressed concerns that Afrobeats sensation Rema may be overpricing himself. In a conversation with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, Paulo suggested that Rema needs to perform more shows and build a larger fanbase to justify his current price tag.

โ€œRema is on another level, a Gen Z superstar, and a major face of African music,โ€ Paulo said, noting that the Western world regards Rema similarly to American artists. However, he added, โ€œThe issue with Rema right now is that he may have overpriced himself. He needs to do more shows to build a huge fanbase that matches his price.โ€

Paulo also mentioned that Rema and his fellow artist Asake have seen a decline in their earnings. He explained that while both artists previously earned between $4 million and $5 million, their earnings have dropped to $2 million (N3.2 billion) and $3 million (N4.8 billion) in 2023 and 2024.

Rema recently made headlines after performing at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchantโ€™s wedding on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. According to the Hindustan Times, Rema was paid $3 million to perform his global hit song โ€œCalm Downโ€ at the event.
