Rivers, Kaduna, Abia Most Expensive State For Buying Cooking Gas

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday revealed that the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder was recorded in Gombe, Yobe and Taraba State at N15,770.

The statistics agency said this in its latest Liquidified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Price See for July 2024.

The statistics hub said the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas fell by 9.37 per cent on a month-on-month, to N14,261.57 from the N15,736.27 sold in June 2024.

On a year-on-year basis, the July 2024 price represents a 55.66 per cent increase against the N9,162.11 pump price in July 2023.

According to the NBS, Gombe recorded the highest average retail price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas at N15,872, followed by Yobe at N15,823 and Taraba at N15,625.

Conversely, Bauchi sold the lowest average price of N13,450, followed by Enugu and Nassarawa at N13,411 and N13,413 respectively.

In terms of zonal analysis, the NBS said the North-East and the North-West recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder at (N15,075.16 and N14,454.86.) respectively while the North-Central had the lowest price at N13,611.68.

Subsequently, an average price of 5kg LPG on a month-on-month basis fell by 14.23 per cent to N5,974.55 from the N6,966.03 recorded in June 2024.

On a year-on-year basis, the cost of a 5kg cooking gas rose by 46.69 per cent against the N4,072.87 sold in July 2023.

By state analysis, Borno recorded the highest average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of cooking gas at N7,088.59, Yobe at N6,935.50, and Sokoto at N7,590.79

While Delta had the lowest price at N5,392.86, followed by Zamfara and Kogi at an average of N5,495.94

On zonal analysis, the Northeast recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 5kg cylinder at N6,446.53 while the South-South recorded the lowest at N5,654.04.
