The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, is set to flag off reconstruction of the Ohafia-Arochukwu highway.
This was contained in a release by his chief press secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha on Sunday.
According to the release, the event is slated to be held on Wednesday 28th August, 2024 at Old Soldier junction, Ebem Ohafia by 12 noon.
Recall that the reconstruction of this particular federal road was first awarded by the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) when former President Muhammadu Buhari was the Chairman under General Sani Abacha administration.
It was abandoned and later re-awarded in 2011 by erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan and was still abandoned.
Speaking when the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, paid him a courtesy visit in Abia last year to inspect ongoing federal road projects in the state, the governor said “If I’m able to find money, I will like to do the road and whenever he (President Tinubu) is able to, he will reimburse us.
“We believe that we should support the Federal Government in delivering dividends of democracy to our people,” the Abia Governor said.
