Yakubu Jadi, the district head of Garu Kurama in Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and six other members of Gurzan Kurama village have been kidnapped by bandits.
The victims include the local Catholic churchโs catechist and the district headโs daughter.
The abductions occurred on the night of Friday, August 23rd. While the Kaduna State police have yet to confirm the incident, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has released a statement detailing the kidnappings.
According to Josiah Abraks, SOKAPUโs public relations officer, the bandits have not yet made contact with the victimsโ families.
Describing the situation as โunfortunate, alarming, and worrisome,โ SOKAPU has called for an urgent response from security agencies and relevant authorities. The organization urges the Federal Government to enhance its efforts in protecting citizensโ lives and property.
SOKAPU has also advised communities to increase vigilance, monitor unusual activities, and report suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities to prevent further incidents.
