Hadejia, a town in eastern Jigawa State, Northern Nigeria, is once again in the spotlight following another disturbing incident involving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
Over the weekend, the corps membersโ lodge in Hadejia was attacked by gunmen suspected to be robbers, marking the fourth such incident in the past eight months.
The town, which borders Kiri Kasama Local Government to the east, Mallam Maษori Local Government to the north, and Auyo Local Government to the west, has been grappling with a series of security challenges.
The latest attack saw the assailants forcefully enter the lodge, breaking down the entrance door and leaving several occupants injured. Valuables, including laptops, cell phones, and money, were stolen during the raid.
A source from the lodge described the harrowing experience: โHadejia corpersโ lodge in Jigawa state was attacked by suspected hoodlums for the 4th time this year. They came and broke our entrance door, injuring some of our members. Please, we need help and prayers.โ
This recurring violence has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of NYSC members in Hadejia, with many calling for increased security measures and urgent intervention by the authorities to protect these young Nigerians serving their country in the region.
The repeated attacks also highlight broader issues of insecurity in the area, threatening the stability and development of this part of Jigawa State.
