Following his recent work visit to France, President Bola Tinubu is preparing for another significant international engagement, this time with a state visit to China.
The trip, scheduled for the first week of September 2024, will coincide with the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
During this visit, President Tinubu is expected to participate in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China.
President Tinubu returned to Nigeriaโs capital, Abuja, from Paris on Friday, August 23, 2024. His arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was recorded at approximately 2:25 am, following what his team described as a โbrief work stayโ in France.
Shortly after his return, President Tinubu officiated the inauguration of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja at around 11:40 am on Friday. Justice Kekere-Ekun signed the oath register, formally marking the commencement of her tenure, which is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
This upcoming visit to China is expected to further solidify Nigeriaโs strategic ties with China, particularly in areas of trade, investment, and infrastructure development.
The FOCAC summit will provide a platform for African leaders to engage with their Chinese counterparts on issues of mutual interest, with President Tinubu likely to focus on attracting more Chinese investment into Nigeriaโs economy.
