In a devastating road accident that occurred on Tuesday night, at least 16 people lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries on the Ondo-Ore-Benin Expressway near the Ajure community in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The accident, confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, involved a head-on collision between an 18-passenger Toyota Hiace bus and a truck. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bus caught fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of 16 passengers, while three others miraculously survived, albeit with injuries.

The Ondo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Ibitoye Samuel, who provided details of the incident on Wednesday, attributed the crash to speeding and improper overtaking. According to him, these factors were the primary causes that led to the fatal collision.
