Nigeria Signs MoU With Egypt On Defence Industry Cooperation

Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Republic of Egypt to deepen defence industry cooperation.

The Ministry of Defence revealed the development in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike, shared via its Twitter handle on Wednesday

The signing ceremony, according to the Defence Ministry held at its Ship House in Abuja, following a visit by the delegation to the office of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Kana, signed for Nigeria while the Assistant Minister of Defence of Egypt, Major General Walid Hamouda signed for Egypt.

The signing of the MoU is aimed at promoting deeper bilateral and defence cooperation in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations of the two countries.

Kana expressed optimism that the long history of a robust relationship between Nigeria and Egypt would create lasting cooperation between both countries, given that Nigeria has benefited a lot from Egypt in areas of intelligence sharing and training.

On his part, Hamoud expressed appreciation for the platform provided to sign the MoU while assuring Nigeria of his countryโ€™s total commitment to abide by the articles contained in the signed document.
