The retail outlets of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Plc have adjusted the price of its premium motor spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, to N855 per litre.

Business Post reports that the previous price was N568 per litre at NNPC retail stations in Lagos and other parts of the country.

This latest development comes after the country was forced into another round of petrol scarcity, which has latest over a month.

At the time of filing this report, NNPC has yet to announce the price hike, but the price display boards of its retail stations have adjusted to the new rate.

Over the weekend, the state-owned oil company lamented that the energy firm was broke as it owed international petrol suppliers over $6 billion.
