£82 million Manchester United flop pushes for move away amid interest from Mourinho’s Fenerbahce

Manchester United winger Antony is reportedly pushing for a loan move away from the club, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, showing strong interest, Soccernet.football reports.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has struggled to find form at Old Trafford since his high-profile £82 million transfer from Ajax in August 2022.

Despite being one of the most expensive signings in Manchester United’s history, Antony has failed to deliver the expected impact, scoring only three goals in 38 appearances last season.

This has led to a significant drop in his standing under manager Erik ten Hag, with the winger now behind the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo in the pecking order.

Antony has made just one appearance for the Red Devils this season, coming off the bench in their 2-1 loss to Brighton.

Disillusioned with his current situation, he has informed the club of his desire to seek a move, hoping to revive his career elsewhere, according to the Independent.

United, keen to facilitate his departure, are open to a loan move, with the Turkish transfer window remaining open until Friday.

Fenerbahce, managed by former United boss Mourinho, are one of the leading contenders to secure Antony’s services.

Despite his struggles, Ten Hag has not completely written off the Brazilian winger’s future at United.

“He [Antony] certainly showed that potential in the first month: he scored three times in his first three games,” Ten Hag said in July. “After that, it became more difficult, last season was not good. But I am still convinced that he has the potential to play at this club.”

Antony’s hefty price tag and declining form have made him one of the most scrutinised figures at the club, but a loan move could offer the opportunity he needs to rediscover his form and confidence.
