TROOPS involved in Operation Hadarin Daji have eliminated a wanted bandit leader, Halilu Sububu. He was killed yesterday in an ambush by the forces in Kwaren Kirya, a community within the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Halilu Sububu, originally from Niger Republic, had been residing in a forest in Zamfara State and frequently fled to Niger Republic after conducting operations in Nigeria.

Sububu was a notorious gunrunner and operated a lucrative illegal gold mining business in Bagega and other areas surrounding the Sumke forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

He maintained a camp on the western side of Bagega and exerted control over the local communities and all mining sites in the vicinity.

He had been declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in May of this year.

In a coordinated effort by the combined troops of Sector One, Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, the infamous bandit leader was killed along with 50 of his fighters.

While commending the troops for their successful operation, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa stated that Nigerian forces are capable of eliminating all bandit leaders operating in the Northwestern region of the country.

He emphasized that time is running out for notorious bandit leader Bello Turji and other terrorists, as the troops are dedicated to eradicating insecurity in Zamfara and the Northwest Zone.

General Christopher also announced the establishment of a joint military operation, code-named โ€˜Operation Fansar Yamma Northwest,โ€™ aimed at addressing the spread of insecurity in the region.
