The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, is set to share his vision for driving Nigeria’s GDP with massive investment in the oil and gas sector.
The organisers of Gastech 2024 disclosed this in a post shared on its website and seen by NewsNGR.
The GCEO will speak on, ‘Delivering a Growth Mandate Through Domestic and International Natural Gas Sector Transformation.’
The event is scheduled to last from September 17-20, 2024 in Houston, Texas, USA.
Gastech said, “Mele Kolo Kyari, Group CEO of @nnpclimited will be speaking at the Gastech Strategic Conference. He will deliver an Energy Talk exploring ‘Delivering a growth mandate through domestic and international natural gas sector transformation’.

Kyari is spearheading transformative initiatives in Nigeria’s energy sector which have bolstered the country’s drive towards a $1tn economy by 2027.
The National Bureau of Statistics released its second-quarter GDP report which reveals that the economy grew by 3.19 per cent year-on-year in real terms.
The GDP growth was achieved following a real growth of the oil sector which stood at 10.15 per cent year-on-year in Q2 2024, indicating an increase of 23.58 per cent compared to -13.43 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2023.
“The Oil sector contributed 5.70 per cent to the total real GDP in Q2 2024, up from the 5.34 per cent recorded in the corresponding period of 2023,” the NBS said.
Kyari has been praised by industry experts for his strategies in increasing Nigeria’s average daily oil production of 1.41 million barrels per day in the second quarter of 2024 as against the daily average production of 1.22 mbpd recorded in the same quarter of 2023.
