OFFICERS from the Kaduna Police Command have apprehended a suspected notorious arms dealer and seized twenty AK-47 rifles in his possession.
In a statement by the Commandโs Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, police operatives, while on routine patrol at Buruku Bridge in Igabi Local Government Area yesterday, stopped a black Golf III saloon car driven by the suspect, identified as Bitrus Gyang, a native of Bakin Ladi in Plateau State.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, officers found twenty locally manufactured AK-47 rifles and an empty Type 06 magazine concealed in the carโs trunk.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an arms trafficker and admitted to transporting fabricated rifles on at least three previous occasions.
The police also stated that the suspect is cooperating, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
