International Peace Day: NSCDC advocates peaceful coexistence among Kaduna residents

The Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kaduna State Command, Nuhu Muhammadu has advised residents of Kaduna State to live in peace with one another.

The Commandant made the call during the commemoration of International Day of Peace with the theme, โ€˜Cultivating the Culture of Peace,โ€™ held at the Kaduna State University on Saturday.

He noted that peaceful coexistence with one another is paramount as it ensures rapid development in society.

The Commandant who lauded the Kaduna State Governor for ensuring peace by providing patrol vehicles code-named: Operation Fushin Kada,โ€ noted that the vehicles would be used to deploy personnel to strategic places to protect lives and property.

He said the Peace and Conflict Unit of the Corps has resolved a total of 265 conflicts within a year, just as he advised residents to always resolve disputes that may arise peacefully.

โ€œWe need peace in Kaduna State, we need to come together as one and move progressively for the development of the state.

โ€With peaceful coexistence in the state, there will be rapid development,โ€ Muhammadu added.

Giving a breakdown of the resolved cases, he said the unit had treated 70 issues involving family and marital disputes, 60 cases involving breach of trust/agreement, 50 cases involving land disputes, 40 cases involving farmers/herders and 45 cases involving land disputes
