A combined team of police operatives and soldiers have escorted Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, out of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) head office in Benin City.
Obaseki was moved out of the premises by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Frank Mba, at 4:10 am on Sunday.
The governor had arrived the electoral commission office unannounced around 2am, allegedly to protest anomalies in the collation of results from his Oredo local government area and others.
However, he was said to have been informed by officials that he was not supposed to be at the premises.
The governor was however said to have insisted on staying, a development that prompted a combined team of policemen and soldiers, led by DIG Mba who entered the INEC premises, and escorted Obaseki out.
