THREE people lost their lives early today in a crash at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge Toll Gate in Lagos State.
The accident, which happened around 1 am, involved two vehicles whose drivers, fortunately, survived.
A user on X, @Drweloveu, shared that the two drivers emerged unharmed. โNot a scratch on them. They were fine, while their friends lay dead on the ground.
โInstead of helping, the police who arrived handcuffed the survivors, ignoring the bodies.
โLocals, including elders, were shocked and pleaded with the police to prioritize moving the deceased to the hospital or mortuary instead of detaining those grieving their friends.
โAfter many appeals, the police finally released them, and the crowd began helping, trying to locate the victimsโ families.โ
In response to the post, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified: โThe police arrived and took the vehicle occupants to the hospital. Unfortunately, three were confirmed dead and their bodies were taken to Yaba mortuary.
โThe driver responsible was also taken to the hospital for treatment and later handed over to his family. An investigation is ongoing.โ
