Portugal and AC Milan winger, Rafael Leao, has warned his club teammates to be wary of the threat Victor Boniface poses, Soccernet.ng reports.
Leao has been one of the best wingers in the Italian Serie A over the past few years, winning the Scuddeto in 2022.
Speaking ahead of their clash against Xabi Alonso’s new boys, the former LOSC Lille man warned his teammates to watch out for Victor Boniface and the entire Leverkusen team.
“Yeah, I know him, he’s teammates in the Nigerian national team with Chukwueze. He was talking about him this week, and he’s very technical and fast, and we know we need to watch out for him. We need to watch out for the entire team, because the centre backs, the full backs; Frimpong and Grimaldo, and the entire team play very well and it’ll be a difficult game.
But of course, Boniface ,we respect his ability, but I think we’re prepared to face him,” the 25-year-old said as revealed by OmaSports TV.
Victor Boniface has been in fine form for Leverkusen this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five Bundesliga games for the defending champions.
Alonso’s men are currently second on the Bundesliga table while Milan are also third in the Serie A, two points behind Antonio Conte’s Napoli.
The game will be played at the Bay Arena in Germany, with kick-off slated for 8:00pm West African time.
