In a violent clash between rival bandit groups in Katsina State, more than 20 bandits, including top leaders and foot soldiers, have reportedly been killed.
The clash, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, took place in the Dan-Ali community of Dan-Musa Local Government Area.
According to counter-security expert Zagazola Makama, the confrontation was between the gangs of notorious bandit leaders Mai Nore and Buzaro.
In a post on X Makama described the clash as a territorial battle that also left many other bandits wounded.
“In the early hours of today, a fierce clash erupted between Mai Nore’s gang and the Buzaro terrorist group in the Dan-Ali area of Dan-Musa Local Government Area, Katsina State,” Makama wrote.
He added that intelligence sources confirmed that the deadly confrontation resulted in “heavy casualties on both sides, with more than 20 bodies reportedly left at the scene.”
Eyewitnesses also noted the intensity of the battle, with prolonged gunfire ringing through the area.
The ongoing rivalry between these groups is believed to stem from territorial disputes, further escalating violence in the region, which has been plagued by banditry in recent years.
