Fubara Swears in Newly Elected LG Chairmen in Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, officially swore in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas today at a ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt.

The swearing-in follows the conclusion of Saturdayโ€™s local government council elections.

Of the 23 chairmen inaugurated, 22 represent the Action Peoples Party (APP), while the Action Alliance (AA) secured one seat.

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) had declared the APP victorious in 22 local government areas, with the Action Alliance winning in Etche Local Government Area.

Addressing the newly sworn-in chairmen, Governor Fubara congratulated them on their electoral victories and emphasized the importance of focusing on delivering on their campaign promises.

He urged them to prioritize the welfare and development of their local communities, calling for leadership that reflects accountability and commitment.

The ceremony was attended by several notable dignitaries, including Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who also serves as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorsโ€™ Forum. His presence added significance to the event as he lent his support to the newly elected leaders.

Each chairman was allowed to bring one guest to the ceremony, in line with the guidelines set by the state government.

Following the swearing-in, the new council leaders are expected to assume their roles immediately, beginning their tenure with a focus on improving governance and community development across Rivers State.
