Former Super Eagles coach, Daniel Amokachi, has been appointed as the new Technical Adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
The decision was made by the club’s newly constituted board on Wednesday.
A board member, speaking to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said appointing the 1994 AFCON winner was an easy choice due to Amokachi’s impressive pedigree.
“Amokachi is not only a son of the soil but highly qualified to lead the club’s technical team. His tactical expertise is well-known, and we are confident he will bring success to the club,” the official said.
The board has also approved Amokachi’s request to bring in an assistant coach and a goalkeeper trainer, leaving Terhemen Akombo as the only remaining member of the previous coaching staff.
Currently, Lobi Stars are in 17th place in the NPFL standings with just four points from five matches, having recorded one win, one draw, and three losses.
This marks Amokachi’s third NPFL stint, following his time with Nasarawa United in 2007 and Enyimba in 2008.
