While Nigerians are yet to properly adjust to the increase in the last price increase, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has once again increased the pump price of petrol.
The latest increase comes after the company says oil marketers can deal directly with Dangote Refinery.
Reports say the state owned oil firm fixed pump price at its various outlets in the FCT at N1,030 per litre.
Before the new price increase, the NNPC Ltd was the sole purchaser of petro from Dangote refinery.
A transporter simply known as Udoka told Blueprint that the new increase by the NNPCL came as a surprise to many of his colleagues.
According to him, they were still struggling with the last price increase but this new one will further hit their take-home.
He said, “The implication is that commuters should be prepared from tomorrow to pay more. Even though, I am not happy with what is happening, anybody that boards my vehicle tomorrow will pay a new fare.
“My fare now is that the price of food stuffs will also increase. I don’t know how we are going to survive this.”
The ‘subsidy is gone’ pronouncement by President Bola Tinunu during his inaugural speech on May 29 2023, led to a significant rise in the prices of goods and services.
