Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would need divine intervention to recover from its current state of disarray.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday night, Fayose highlighted the lingering effects of the party’s loss in the 2023 general elections and internal power struggles as key issues haunting the PDP.
“The elections have come and gone. And because the party suffered a loss, I believe the consequences of that loss are haunting the party. The mismanagement and arrogance of a few are also haunting the party,” Fayose stated.
He added, “It would take God’s intervention or a miracle for this party to be brought together again. When you hear of suspensions on the left and counter-suspensions on the right, it shows a lot has happened, and a lot needs to be addressed.”
Fayose stressed that unity within the party is essential for it to move forward. He called on key members to reflect on their mistakes and work towards reconciliation.
“The challenges are enormous, and everybody must start reflecting because if you don’t put the past behind you, you won’t have a future,” he said.
A faction of the PDP National Working Committee recently suspended acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, for alleged disloyalty. Meanwhile, another faction suspended the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, also citing disloyalty.
