A coalition of Delta APC Youths has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint individuals with a proven track record in philanthropy as the next Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
NewsNGR recalls that Tinubu had in January suspended Edu following allegations of financial misappropriation.
However, in the last 10 months, the ministry has been operating without a substantive ministry.
But the group in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Mr. Agbigbe Ochuko, said there was an urgent need for a selfless and compassionate leader to address the current hardships faced by Nigerians.
The coalition pointed to the ongoing struggles of the masses, stressing that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs should be led by someone who not only understands the suffering of Nigerians but is also deeply passionate about humanitarian service.
To this end, the group urged Tinubu to consider Dr. Halimat Adenike Tejuosho for the role, citing her extensive experience and dedication to helping the less privileged, particularly those with disabilities.
โWhenever she has the opportunity to reach out, her love for persons with disabilities is infectious and undiluted. Giving her this opportunity to serve Nigerians will be putting a square peg in a square hole. She is the right person for the job.
โWe believe that the only way Mr President can succeed in restoring hope to Nigerians is by giving the jobs of good governance to the right people with tested records and experience,โ the coalition stated.
