TWO people have died in a multi-vehicle crash at the Second Rainbow Bus Stop on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.

According to a statement issued today by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency received a distress call and immediately activated its State Emergency Response team to the scene.

The Eagle response team arrived at the scene at 5:52 PM yesterday and discovered a crash involving a MAN truck (registration number KTU 793 YE) transporting groundnut oil, a Honda Accord (registration number KTU 223 GH), and two commercial buses.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the MAN truck experienced mechanical failure while traveling at high speed, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the other vehicles.

Sadly, two male adults were killed in the incident, while several others sustained various injuries and were attended to by LASAMBUS.

โ€œAll four vehicles involved sustained significant damage,โ€ the statement added.

A joint response from primary responders at the scene facilitated a swift resolution.

By the time of this report, the scene had been cleared, and the accident vehicles were towed to Festac Police Station.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to police officers at the scene and transferred to the mortuary.
