Former Osun State lawmaker, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, is poised to contest and win the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Responding to rumours that Oyetola, who served as Osun governor from November 2018 to November 2022, might not pursue the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the next election, Oyintiloye dismissed such claims.

He emphasised that Oyetola deserves the APC’s 2026 governorship ticket, stating there is no indication that he would refuse the opportunity to run.

In a statement from Osogbo on Wednesday, Oyintiloye said, “Oyetola has the right of first refusal for the APC 2026 governorship ticket. He is already consulting with key stakeholders to assess the party’s strengths and challenges across local governments. Oyetola will contest and win the 2026 governorship election in Osun.”

He further stressed that Oyetola’s administration achieved significant progress in areas such as health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and rural development.

Despite limited funds from the federation account, Oyetola’s experience in both the private and public sectors enabled him to make impactful use of resources during his tenure.

Oyintiloye urged APC members to remain united and rally behind Oyetola in the quest to reclaim the governorship in 2026, stating, “The people of Osun are eagerly awaiting Oyetola’s return to Oke Fia Government House.”
