Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, Brahim Diaz Shortlisted for 2023/24 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced its final shortlist for the prestigious 2023/24 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, featuring three standout players: Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, and Brahim Diaz.

Ademola Lookman, who currently plays for Italian side Atalanta, earned his place among the elite following a stellar season. The Nigerian forward was pivotal in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph and was named the club’s Player of the Year for his consistent contributions and the only African player nominated for the Balloon d’oir 2024, Lookman’s ability to deliver in crucial moments helped propel Atalanta to their European success, cementing his reputation in world football also as one of Africa’s top talents.

Victor Boniface, another Nigerian sensation, enjoyed a remarkable season with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. His contributions were instrumental in Leverkusen’s historic domestic treble, winning the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Super Cup. Boniface’s dynamic play, particularly in attack, played a significant role in Leverkusen’s dominance across competitions, making him one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Brahim Diaz, who represents Spain internationally but hails from African descent, had a standout year with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Diaz helped his team capture multiple prestigious titles, including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. His versatility and technical brilliance on the field earned him a well-deserved spot on the shortlist.

With three remarkable players in the running, the race for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award promises to be highly competitive.
