Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has suspended Auwalu Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties, following allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah Board.
The Hisbah, Kanoโs Islamic police, arrested Sankara in an uncompleted building with a married woman.
Dr Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrest on Friday evening.
Sankara, however, denied the allegations, calling them โfalse, baseless, and malicious.โ
In a statement issued on Friday night, he claimed the accusations were a deliberate effort to tarnish his reputation.
In response, the Jigawa State Government announced Sankaraโs suspension to ensure a fair investigation.
โThe suspension is to allow for a thorough investigation and to uphold the integrity of the state administration,โ said Malam Bala Ibrahim, Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, in a statement on Saturday.
