Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, has categorically denied claims that he was arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command for allegedly having an affair with a married woman.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sankara described the allegations as โ€œentirely false, baseless, and malicious,โ€ asserting that they were part of a smear campaign to tarnish his reputation.

โ€œI wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation. I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity,โ€ Sankara said.

As a married man, he emphasised his respect for the institution of marriage and insisted that he would never engage in actions that would undermine its sanctity.

โ€œI have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity,โ€ he added.

Sankara revealed that he plans to take legal action against those behind the false claims, saying, โ€œI am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading this false information and attempting to cause harm to my person.โ€

The allegations have sparked reactions on social media, with mixed responses from the public. While some voiced support for the commissioner, others have called for a thorough investigation.

The Kano Hisbah Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the alleged incident.

Sankara, a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA), reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Jigawa State with integrity, urging the public to ignore the politically motivated smear campaign.
