Renowned Nigerian actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli recently shared the story of how she missed out on a film role due to her decision not to kiss a director.
In her recent interview with comedian AY on the ‘Glasshouse Show,’ she recounted the experience, which took place after her return to Nigeria following a period spent abroad raising her children.
“One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that. So I was like ‘is this an audition?’ and he was like ‘yeah, I just want to see’ and I said ‘sorry, I can’t do it because I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing you the director when we are not on set.
“And so, I said ‘oh no sorry, I can’t.’ Guess what? I didn’t get the role that I travelled for, and I ended up travelling back without playing the role,” she said.
