SUPER EAGLES of Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been nominated for the African Goalkeeper of the Year prize of the 2024 CAF Awards.

Nwabali was one of the standout players at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire in January and February this year, and he helped the Super Eagles reach the final.

The 28-year-old will vie for the award alongside Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper, Andre Onana, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.

Other nominees are Munir El Kajoui (Morocco), Amanallah Memmiche (Tunisia), Yahia Fofana (Cote d’Ivoire), Lionel Mpasi (DR Congo), Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt), Djigui Diarra (Mali) and Oussama Benbot (Algeria).

Nwabali was impressive for the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire, the Chippa United shot-stopper keeping four clean sheets during the competition to finish behind Bafana Bafana’s Williams, who won the Golden Glove after keeping five clean sheets.

Since the last AFCON, the former Enyimba goalkeeper has kept his spot in the senior national team despite the recent competition from Udinese number one, Maduka Okoye.

The 2024 CAF Awards will be held on December 16 in Morocco.
