JOHESU Launches Seven-Day Warning Strike Over Unmet Demands

Kehinde Fajobi

Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) have initiated a seven-day warning strike, effective from midnight on Friday.

This action follows a fifteen-day notice of industrial action issued to the Federal Government.

During a press conference in Abuja, JOHESUโ€™s national chairman, Kabiru Minjibir, outlined several demands from the union. These include the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, the payment of a twenty-five percent review of arrears from June to December 2023, an upward review of the retirement age for health workers, a tax waiver on healthcare workersโ€™ allowances, and the prompt payment of the COVID-19 inducement hazard allowance.

Minjibir urged all union members nationwide to comply with the strike directive.
