THE Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed the recovery of five bodies following the helicopter crash that occurred last Thursday.
โNSIB has deployed two vessels equipped with side-scan sonar to expand the search area. Additionally, four more side-scan sonar units are on their way from Port Harcourt and will be deployed tomorrow morning to improve search coverage,โ NSIB spokesperson Bimbo Oladeji stated in a statement yesterday.
โTo date, a total of five bodies have been recovered, although the fifth body retrieved today requires specialized handling due to its decomposed condition before it can be transported to the morgue.โ
The Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, which was carrying oil workers, crashed after departing from Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
On the day of the incident, officials reported that three bodies of the eight passengers and crew members had been recovered.
