NASD Investors Gain N2.09bn in Week 44

The wealth of investors at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange increased by 0.2 per cent or N2.09 billion last week.

This raised the market capitalisation of the trading platform in Week 44 to N1.050 trillion from the N1.047 trillion quoted in the preceding week (Week 43) just as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 5.96 points to 2,993.71 points from the 2,987.75 points recorded a week earlier.

In the week, Okitipupa Plc was the best-performing security after it chalked up 10.4 per cent to end at N20.32 per share against the former value of N18.45 per share, 11 Plc appreciated by 2.8 per cent to N207 per unit from N201.41 per unit, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc expanded by 2.2 per cent to N23.50 per share from N22.99 per share, UBN Property Plc gained 1.8 per cent to settle at N1.70 per share versus the preceding weekโ€™s N1.67 per share, and Nipco Plc increased by 1.6 per cent to N98.00 per unit from N97.00 per unit.

On the flip side, Geo-Fluids recorded an 11.4 per cent slide to trade at N3.59 per share compared with the N4.05 per share it traded in Week 43, Acorn Petroleum Plc declined by 4.3 per cent to N1.99 per unit from N2.08 per unit, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc weakened by 2.00 per cent to N43.20 per share from N44.08 per share.

Last week, the volume of transactions went down by 4.0 per cent to 7.3 million units from 7.6 million units, the number of deals shrank by 16.9 per cent to 93 deals from 112 deals, while the value of trades increased by 36.9 per cent to N61.32 million from N44.8 million.

The most active stock for the week by value was Geo-Fluids Plc with N20.3 million, Okitipupa Plc recorded N16.1 million, Nipco Plc quoted N10.3 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc traded N5.9 million, and CSCS Plc recorded N4.0 million.

Also, Geo-Fluids Plc was the most traded equity by volume with 5.5 million units, Okitipupa Plc achieved 0.975 million units, Acorn Petroleum Plc exchanged 0.404 million units, UBN Property Plc transacted 0.297 million units, and CSCS Plc traded 0.174 million units.
