Ebere Nzeworji, an aide to former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, has debunked rumours claiming the former Imo West senator is dead.
Nzeworji stated, โThe immediate past Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District is hale and hearty.โ
In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday, Nzeworji clarified that โa fake viral message circulated on social media since Wednesday, November 6, alleging that Okorocha had passed away in a London hospital.โ
He further noted that Okorocha was at his Unity House office in Garki, Abuja, around the time the rumour began and had recently returned from Owerri, Imo State.
Highlighting recent appearances, Nzeworji mentioned that Okorocha attended the funeral of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on November 1 and later hosted Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and other representatives at his Spibat residence in Owerri.
โOne can now begin to wonder about the motives of those behind this fake news,โ Nzeworji remarked.
โSenator Okorocha is a patriotic Nigerian who has served at both state and national levels with distinction, building friendships with well-meaning individuals across the country and the globe.โ
Nzeworji urged Nigerians and the international community to ignore the rumour, stating, โWe, therefore, call on all well-meaning Nigerians and the global community to disregard this fake news and be assured that His Excellency, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is hale and hearty.โ
